It can be overwrought and I'm not sure if the minor "meta" element works, but Will O'Neill, the creator of Little Red Lie (and the excellent Actual Sunlight previously), obviously feels passionately about the aforementioned issues, and his game is an important and mature work, completely unlike any game with more than a triple digit budget. LRL is a grim and often extremely dark game, but one well worth playing.. If you think that their previous game the Actual Sunlight was pretty depressive, try to play this one. If you think your life is miserable, play this game and you'll see that your life is not as bad. This game is not only about lies we tell each other, but also about dramatic consequences of our actions. The gameplay might seem a bit boring and dialogs too long, but it's still a unuque emotional experience with very life-like characters and a twisted plot. Minimum of actions, maximum of narration and deep reasoning. The both games might seem very personal, revealing topics only a few would discuss.. If you already played Actual Sunlight, you already know what to expect here. This time though it's not a personal story about depression, but a more broad view on society and wealth inequalities.The premise - that today's 30 somethings have no future and no economic prospects and no economic value except what their parents accumulated earlier in their lives - is quite intriguing and should feel very close to home to many people. To me it surely did!Writing is excellent, dry and cynical, especially with the male protagonist, his monologues are always witty and to the point. Though the female protagonist will be the relatable one for most players.Worth experiencing!. Very good story that describes the slacker lifestyle in one story and the sociopath sales in the other. The little details the story takes from answering a very general personal finance survey at the start put me in an accurate existence bin. Which made me realize, how so many probably are in the same boat. A sobering game about indulging fantasies of a family member while wealth and income degrade. It's a mature drama and I recommend it.. Little Red Lies tackles everything from mental illness and poverty to sexism and the economy. The writing is fantastic and I loved that this took place in and around Toronto. Everything was familiar, not just the places but the characters. Sometimes it felt like the game was talking right to me and other times it felt like it was talking about people I know. Though often uncomfortable and always scathing, this is a very effective work of interactive fiction. For a game all about lies, it has a lot of brutally honest things to say.. Little Red Lie paints a grim picture of the human condition and shows you the difference money can make. If you find the frustrations of poverty familiar or frightening, you'll cycle through anger and despair in almost equal measure between the tales of Arthur Fox and Sarah Stone. It's a raw, real and heavy ride right to the finish line, and it'll reinforce a lot of harsh realities that'll leave you with plenty to ponder after the credits roll. If that sounds up your alley, come stew in the darkness for a few hours. It's a delightful time!. I liked the message and thought this game gives. But it's more of a story than an actual game. I would've enjoyed more gameplay because all I really did was click around. It was boring for me. But I like the purpose of this game.. I'm not sure how to feel about this game. It's a compelling, ugly story which reaches a sort of end. Is it worth your time? I think that depends on you. I imagine I will still be thinking about it when I eventually reach my own end, so that's something. Or is it a lie?. Good story based "game", although most of the gameplay boils down to, press button to continue story. The story is nihilistic and depressing for people who like that sort of thing.. I loved this game and I really think it's a shame that more people aren't aware of its existence; I, myself, only found out about it from Snapchat. It's definitely not one for the faint of heart with its hard-hitting narrative and I think it should come with a trigger warning because of some of its more graphic scenes, but it's unlike anything else I've ever played and I don't feel like it would work as well as it does within any other medium besides a video game. It's one of the most well-written, thought-provoking and innovative games I've ever played and although it can be hard to actually physically play at times, due to its aforementioned graphic content, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for its overall experience.
